This will be our 25th year of operation less, of course, the two lost “Covid” years. During 2023 people returned to travel in record numbers and 2024 is shaping up to, again, be a bumper year of travel to the UK, to Europe and around the world. Our advice, once again – Book Early! The demand will be high to holiday, adventure, explore and discover.
We continue to offer tours and packages throughout Britain, Ireland and continental Europe and, indeed, anywhere in the world! June 6th, 2024, will see the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings and our battlefield tours will be at Juno Beach for the Canadian remembrance services. We have also added a series of “British Heritage” tours, a well-established “British company that promises to “Explore beyond the guidebook”.
Here is a summary of some of the other travel ideas we are pleased to offer for 2024 and beyond.
Exclusive to DHTour: Our Cornwall, Devon & Dorset tour starting September 16th for 12 nights will take you exploring Cornwall, Devon and Dorset in depth. Our exceptional Blue Badge Guides, hand picked accommodation and included experiences will give you an amazing holiday. This unique tour is exclusive to DHTour – and you are invited! Join us!
Independent small group travel: 2024 may well be the year to put together a small group of your own, be it family or friends, either self-drive or with your own driver/guide. Our knowledgeable agents can help you design your very own itinerary or pick one of our many tour itineraries and let us customize it for your group.
Small-coach Touring: What has evolved over many years is the popularity of touring in a small, 16 to 18 seat mini-coach, as against the huge 48 seaters, and we have been leaders in offering the joys and benefits of small-coach touring.
Firstly, you can “experience the road less travelled” with Blue Roads Tours (formerly Back Roads Touring) who have been setting the standard for high-quality, mini-coach tours since the 1990s. DHTour has been with them from the beginning as they continue to expand throughout Britain and continental Europe. New for BRT in 2024 is Romania.
We have a great selection of Bed ‘n Breakfast touring suggestions throughout the U.K. and Ireland, also in mini, 16 seat coaches, ranging from 1 night stays to 2 or 3 weeks and longer! Also, back for 2024 are the wonderful series of small coach, B ‘n B tours through Italy, Spain and Portugal with connecting itineraries and staying in 3-4 star hotels,
Stay Awhile – Discover More: Mini-coach touring, but with a difference – our Discover More tours. The difference is that you stay, for 3, 4 or 7 nights, at one of 16 wonderful Country House hotel locations throughout England, Wales and Scotland. The country house becomes your base while visiting the surrounding areas, again in a 16-seater mini-coach with a local guide. From these same country house hotels we also offer Walking tours and visits to some of Britain’s finest Gardens. British heritage at its best!
As usual, we have everything you need for London – including Hotel packages, transfers, day tours etc. – and we are official suppliers of Transport for London’s Oyster cards – never go to London without one!
We can help you with independent or escorted travel to virtually anywhere in the world. Our experienced Travel Counsellors are here to help.
Bon Voyage!
British Airways remains our preferred airline to the U.K. but Air Canada, Air Transat & WestJet all have flights from various Canadian cities direct to London’s Heathrow or Gatwick airports.
Air Canada and Air Transat also have direct flights to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Paris and other European cities (tip: if you are thinking of visiting 2 cities, fly into one and out of the other). Other international airlines also have direct flights to their own countries.
The lowest fares on most airlines are now ”Carry On only” fares and they will charge $ 60-$80 per piece/per way for checked luggage.
Current price examples Toronto to London return: (fares include approx.$730 of air taxes and fees).
Thank you so much for putting together such a great tour. The Tavistock Hotel was perfectly situated, clean and everyone was very helpful and friendly. Bloomsbury is a safe and pleasant area in which to stay. Rooms were warm; the shower worked well and breakfast was more than adequate. The travel card was a great bonus. The selection of restaurants was excellent. The extra tour to Stonehenge, Bath and Salisbury was interesting and easy to do. We really enjoyed our time in London and hope to make it an annual trip! You can never see enough of London.
Just a note to let you know how pleased we were with our DH Tour to London. The service on B.A. was excellent. The Tavistock Hotel was very satisfactory, centrally located and the London transportation passes were very useful, as was the information you sent us beforehand. Best of all was the service of our guide Gail. She was most informative and helpful. We really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you.
We had a fabulous time! We saw SO many historical treasures and breath-taking sceneries! We appreciated being so close to everything in Paris and London and it was very convenient to have the subway passes already as well. We still have a bit of money left on each one so the $25 was a perfect amount! We also appreciated the transfers.
Thank you so much for all of your help. This truly was a trip that we will remember forever as a family.
We had a really wonderful trip.
The Corners of Cornwall tour was exceptional. The sites seen and all accommodations were terrific, but perhaps the best part was our tour guide, Russell Chapman. He is the ideal fit for the job. So I repeat, we had a great trip! Thanks for setting it all up.
We were 2 of 19 people on the Canadian Battlefields Tour from 13-22 September, this year.
In a word…OUTSTANDING, FANTASTIC, UNBELIEVABLE…ok, that’s 3 words!
Ian was great, super knowledgeable and obviously extremely passionate about his role!
EVERYONE on the bus, having learned of my quests through Ian and us, helped us search and we found the grave and took pictures. Again, I was speechless and profoundly grateful for everyone’s willingness to accommodate my quests.
We would like to thank all of you at DH Tours for a very well organized trip to London from November 15 – November 22nd. All your arrangements worked out very well and we had a very enjoyable time on our last minute, Off Season- Show and Shopping Tour. We have travelled extensively, both independently and with groups. Your hybrid model, with some essential things included and the rest left to our personal tastes, is a new way to travel for us and we would do it again. It was a great way to get back to overseas travel and an excellent way to brighten up the middle of November. Thank you for all your efforts on our behalf.
First of all, it was so well organized; every detail was well planned. Glenn Edmonds is a fantastic guide and made the stories of WWI and WII honest, heartbreaking and memorable. Glenn and driver, Wim, are a great team. Wim played “O’ Canada” on his clarinet one evening at dinner. They both greeted us every day with smiles and I think, as a result, our group really got along exceptionally well. We experienced so many different things because Glenn and Wim worked together so effortlessly to get us to and from each destination.
Once the tour was completed, we continued to Paris and London. We are grateful that we turned the planning of that portion over to you! The trip on the Eurostar was very nice and we enjoyed a great birthday dinner at Bella Italia thanks to you and we also loved the Oyster card which we used over and over again; thank you!! The London Eye experience was a fun treat. You really made everything so easy for us.
Thank you so much for absolutely everything you did to make the trip so extra special; I loved everyday and grateful for all the hard work you, Glenn and Wim put into the tour.
