When I wrote the first introduction to this, our new web site, in February 2021 the 2nd phase of Covid-19 was on a surge and speculation on future travel was just that – speculation. Now, in January 2022, the Omicrom variant of Covid-19 is on the rampage. Dare we hope that this is the final phase and we will be able to travel safely again in 2022?
Vaccinations continue to proceed at great rates in Canada, America, the U.K. and throughout Europe and the Caribbean. All our suppliers – airlines, hotels, tour and transfer companies etc. – are constantly upgrading their protocols in line with their government’s standards. Most suppliers are also showing good flexibility with their booking conditions, such as refundable deposits etc. We are taking bookings well into 2022 (the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year!) and beyond. Be ready, stay positive!
This is our 23rd year of operation offering, once again, so many ideas for travel throughout Britain & continental Europe. Here is a summary of some of the travel ideas we are pleased to offer for 2022 and beyond.
Independent small group travel: 2022 may well be the year to put together a small group of your own, be it family or friends, either self-drive or with your own driver/guide. Our knowledgeable agents can help you design your very own itinerary or pick one of our many tour itineraries and let us customize it for your group.
Small-coach Touring: What has evolved over many years is the popularity of touring in a small, 16 to 18 seat mini-coach, as against the huge 48 seaters, and we have been leaders in offering the joys and benefits of small-coach touring.
Firstly, you can “experience the road less travelled” with Blue Roads Tours (formerly Back Roads Touring) who have been setting the standard for high-quality, mini-coach tours since the 1990s. DHTour has been with them from the beginning as they continue to expand throughout Britain and continental Europe..
We have a great selection of Bed ‘n Breakfast touring suggestions throughout the U.K. and Ireland, also in mini, 16 seat coaches, ranging from 1 night stays to 2 or 3 weeks and longer! The plans we had to introduce a wonderful series of B ‘n B itineraries in Europe in 2021 have been put on hold for 2022.
Discover More: Mini-coach touring, but with a difference – our Discover More tours. That difference is that you stay, for 3, 4 or 7 nights, at one of 18 wonderful Country House hotel locations throughout England, Wales and Scotland. The country house becomes your base while visiting the surrounding areas, again in a 16-seater mini-coach with a local guide. From these same country house hotels we also offer Walking tours and visits to some of Britain’s finest Gardens. British heritage at its best!
Battlefield Tours: The year 2020 was the 75th anniversary of the end of the 2nd world war. Many countries, such as The Netherlands, will be holding their remembrances in 2022 – 75 + 2!

British Airways remains our preferred airline to the U.K. but Air Canada, Air Transat & WestJet all have flights from various Canadian cities direct to London’s Heathrow or Gatwick airports.
Air Canada and Air Transat also have direct flights to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Paris and other European cities (tip: if you are thinking of visiting 2 cities, fly into one and out of the other). Other international airlines also have direct flights to their own countries.
The lowest fares on most airlines are now ”Carry On only” fares and they will charge $ 60-$80 per piece/per way for checked luggage.
Current price examples Toronto to London return: (fares include approx.$730 of air taxes and fees).
Thank you so much for putting together such a great tour. The Tavistock Hotel was perfectly situated, clean and everyone was very helpful and friendly. Bloomsbury is a safe and pleasant area in which to stay. Rooms were warm; the shower worked well and breakfast was more than adequate. The travel card was a great bonus. The selection of restaurants was excellent. The extra tour to Stonehenge, Bath and Salisbury was interesting and easy to do. We really enjoyed our time in London and hope to make it an annual trip! You can never see enough of London.
Just a note to let you know how pleased we were with our DH Tour to London. The service on B.A. was excellent. The Tavistock Hotel was very satisfactory, centrally located and the London transportation passes were very useful, as was the information you sent us beforehand. Best of all was the service of our guide Gail. She was most informative and helpful. We really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you.
