Leaving the Georgian streets of Bath behind, you travel through the rolling chalk hills of the Wessex Downs – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – to Oxford.

Free time in Oxford

You have the full morning to explore Oxford. There is so much to discover, in this city famous for it’s Gothic architecture and home to the oldest university in the UK. You have plenty of time to explore the historic colleges, museums, and walk the cobbled streets, as well as grab some lunch.

The Cotswolds Villages

Your journey continues deeper into the Cotswolds. Famous for charming villages nestled between the rolling hills, characterised by thatched cottages and traditional markets, today you’re here to take in some of the regions prettiest towns. First, you’ll visit the Burford, the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’. One of the historic market towns in the area, here you can stroll along the quaint streets and enjoy the local hospitality. Then, onto Bibury, on the banks of the River Coln; this village is famous for the 17th-century stone cottages and winding lanes. You have time here to stroll to the famous and fairytale-like Arlington Row.

Once you’ve had your fill of winding lanes and thatched cottages, it’s time to head back to Bath in the early evening.
