Stow-on-the-Wold

Embark on a journey through time in Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest of the Cotswold towns, steeped in history and charm. Explore the impressive Market Square, adorned with ancient market stocks and a medieval market cross, surrounded by quaint townhouses, cosy cafes, and antique centres, all crafted from the region’s signature honey-coloured stone.

Delve into the town’s rich past, from its strategic location on the Roman Fosse Way to its pivotal role in the English Civil War, witnessed by the battle scars still visible today. Visit St Edward’s Church, once a makeshift prison for defeated Royalist troops, and admire its iconic ‘Tolkienesque’ North Door, said to have inspired the ‘Doors of Durin’ in the Lord of the Rings.

Join us on a journey through centuries of history and legend in this picturesque Cotswold gem, where every corner tells a story waiting to be discovered.

Burford

Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Cotswolds lies the picturesque town of Burford, a quintessential English gem waiting to be explored. With its charming honey-coloured stone buildings and quaint streets lined with historic cottages, Burford offers a delightful escape into the heart of rural England.

Stroll along the medieval high street, where traditional shops, cosy cafes, and inviting pubs beckon visitors to indulge in local delights. Admire the grandeur of St. John the Baptist Church, a magnificent example of medieval architecture that dominates the skyline.

Take in panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from the iconic Tolsey clock tower, a symbol of the town’s enduring charm.

Waddesdon Manor

Discover the opulent legacy of Waddesdon Manor, a lavish estate built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the late 19th century to showcase his impressive collection of arts and host extravagant soirées. Immerse yourself in the aristocratic history as you explore the stately home, now managed by the Rothschild Foundation.

Indulge in a wine aficionado’s dream as you join one of Waddesdon’s experts for a guided tour followed by a tantalising tasting of Rothschild wines. Dating back to Baron Ferdinand’s lavish dinner parties, wine has long been a centrepiece of Waddesdon’s allure.

Today, the Rothschild Foundation proudly curates an exquisite selection of over 100 wines from six continents, including rare Rothschild clarets from 1868, housed in our prestigious cellars.

Experience the epitome of luxury and refinement as you savour the flavours of tradition and heritage at Waddesdon Manor, where each sip tells a story of aristocratic grandeur and impeccable taste.

End Point

London Victoria Train Station – Your tour will finish outside London Victoria Train Station, centrally located and easily accessible by national rail and underground; it is serviced by the Victoria, District and Circle Lines and is in Travel Zone 1.
