Following the footsteps of our fathers, The Battlefield Tours has had the honour of leading our Canadian Veterans through the Battlefields of Europe. Unique to mainstream tours, the Battlefield Tours are different: This is real history.
Upon arrival at Schiphol International Airport, you will meet your driver at the Arrivals Meeting Point, before continuing to Amsterdam. After dropping off your bags, enjoy a walk with our city map to orient yourself before lunch. In the afternoon, head to the Blue Boat docks, opposite the Heineken Brewery for a canal cruise of the city, before returning to your hotel for check-in.

Enjoy a full day to explore the City of Amsterdam in the light of Liberation, with visits to the Anne Frank House, preserving the hiding place the wartime diarist. After lunch, you will meet your local battlefield guide who will tell the story of the Dutch people in World War II, as you walk together through canals and corridors to The Dutch Resistance Museum, awarded as the best historical museum of the Netherlands. Tonight, return to your hotel to enjoy our dinner and overnight at your own pace. (B)

Enjoy the full day to explore Amsterdam at your own pace. May we suggest optional excursion to Zaanse Schans. An impressive collection 18th/19th-century Dutch windmills and wooden houses were relocated here to re-create a historic and traditional dutch village. Or perhaps a day trip up to Giethoorn the Venice of the Netherlands. This afternoon, return to Amsterdam for a free afternoon to explore the city. Perhaps you’d like to visit the Bloemenmarkt – the world’s only floating flower market, or the Rijksmuseum. (B)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Schiphol Amsterdam airport for your continuation on to the Holland Liberation Group Program. (B)

Notes
Rooms:
Please specify if you prefer a double (shared) or twin beds. Most rooms are doubles and twins may be on request. Single rooms are in short supply and early booking is advised. All rooms have private facilities which will be either bath or WC or shower & WC. We will try to meet your request but cannot guarantee your preference will be met.
Luggage:
We ask that those of you on the motor coach tours, limit your luggage to one suitcase plus a carry on. Please be sure that you are aware of current airport and airline weight and carry-on restrictions.
Wheelchairs:
We are able to carry your folding wheelchair in the luggage compartment but not battery powered wheelchairs. Please advise the Battlefield Tours if you intend to bring one. If you are disabled in any way please ask our staff about the suitability of any particular tour or hotel.
