Our valleys conceal treasures, beasts, and myths. Our lochs provide food, water, and transport. And whisky has warmed both ancient cultures and modern folk through winter. On this tour, you explore the history and beauty of these Scottish icons. You’ll taste whisky in the region from which it’s born and distilled, and you share in the beauty of lovely lochs, gorgeous glens, and magnificent mountains.

The Hermitage Ossian’s Hall – Built as a tribute to a giant’s son and still standing 250 years later, even after a gunpowder blast, this ancient temple rises amid towering firs

Itinerary

Edinburgh to Highland Perthshire

You leave Edinburgh and travel over the Queensferry Crossing, enjoying views of the iconic Forth Rail Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you journey north through the Kingdom of Fife, the scenery transforms from the rolling farmland of the Lowlands to forested hills and mountains as you approach the Highland Fault line in Perthshire.

Highland Perthshire, Dunkeld & the Hermitage

Continuing through Perthshire, often referred to as “Big Tree Country,” you find the gorgeous cathedral town of Dunkeld situated on the banks of the River Tay. You stop here and have the chance to explore the architecturally fascinating cathedral or walk the quaint streets of this picturesque village. It’s a short drive from here to the Hermitage, where you can take a fantastic woodland walk amongst majestic Douglas firs and ancient oaks leading up to the stunning Black Linn Falls.

Highland Perthshire , Pitlochry & Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery

It’s a short drive from here to the Hermitage, where you can take a fantastic woodland walk leading up to the Black Linn Falls.

Highland Perthshire to Edinburgh

After you’ve enjoyed a dram of our ‘water of life’, the tour returns through rich forests of Highland Perthshire heading south to the Lowlands and back to Edinburgh.
