Itinerary

Edinburgh to Callander

Leaving Edinburgh behind, we travel north, passing iconic landmarks such as Stirling Castle on our way into the Highlands. You’ll notice the landscape transform as we cross the Highland Boundary Line. The gentle Lowlands give way to the rugged, forested glens of the Trossachs National Park. This land of lochs and misty hills was once home to the famed outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor, whose legend still echoes through these glens.

There will be time for a wee break to stretch your legs in the charming town of Callander, before we continue the journey deeper into the Highlands.

Highlands & Glencoe

As we continue westward, the scenery becomes more dramatic as we navigate through the Highlands. Passing through the wild, open landscapes of Rannoch Moor, we arrive at Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most iconic natural landscapes. Known for its dramatic, rugged slopes, this beautiful area has been featured in films and has many stories to tell. Your driver-guide will tell you about one of Scotland’s most tragic tales as you take in the breathtaking scenery.

Take a moment to capture a few photos of the stunning scenery before we head further north. Afterward, we’ll stop for a leisurely lunch in one of the picturesque local towns.

Glenfinnan Viaduct and journey back to Edinburgh

After lunch, we continue to Glenfinnan, a stunning glen nestled among mountains and overlooking Loch Shiel. It’s home to two icons – the Glenfinnan Monument and the Glenfinnan Viaduct, beloved by Harry Potter fans.

Here, you’ll have time to reflect on the Jacobite Uprising of 1745 and explore the monument. Keep an eye out for the Jacobite Steam Train, which occasionally puffs gracefully across the viaduct (operated by a third party and may not always appear).

Whether or not the train appears, this enchanting glen will leave you spellbound by the beauty of the Highlands. Back on the bus, you might find yourself dreaming of travelling to Hogwarts rather than heading back to Edinburgh.
