After travelling through the picturesque countryside and villages of Wiltshire, we make our first stop in the historic city of Salisbury. Here you will enjoy a visit to the peaceful Cathedral Close, entering through the medieval St Ann’s Gate and walking among beautiful period buildings steeped in history. Take a moment to admire the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral*, crowned by the tallest spire in England at 404 feet. Constructed between 1220 and 1258, this architectural masterpiece stands as one of the finest examples of early English Gothic design.
Our journey continues to one of the world’s most extraordinary ancient monuments, Stonehenge. Shrouded in mystery and intrigue, this prehistoric stone circle has inspired visitors for centuries. As you explore the site, your guide will share insights into what is known, and what may never be known, about its origins, its builders and its alignment with the movements of the sun. We will spend approximately 90 minutes here. Entry includes shuttle transfers to the stones, access to the visitor centre, gift shop and café.
After a scenic drive of around 75 to 90 minutes, we arrive in Windsor, home to over 900 years of royal history. Overlooking the River Thames, Windsor Castle is an enduring symbol of the British monarchy and the official residence of His Majesty King Charles III. Inside, admire the grandeur of the State Apartments, adorned with masterpieces from the Royal Collection, and visit St George’s Chapel, the resting place of many British monarchs and the setting for the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
If you choose not to visit the Castle, there is plenty to enjoy in Windsor and nearby Eton. Explore elegant streets lined with shops and tearooms, stroll along the riverside promenade or cross the bridge to see the historic Eton College. Your guide will be on hand to help you make the most of your free time in this charming royal town.
We depart Windsor to begin drop offs at Heathrow and then in central London.
*Please note there is not enough time to enter the Cathedral on this tour.
Departure
Nearly all cruises at Southampton arrive between 5:00am and 6:00am in the morning, with disembarkation starting around 7:00am. Your driver will meet you at the terminal building exit from 8:00am. Your driver will be holding a sign reading ‘International Friends’ and will accompany you to the coach. We plan to leave Southampton by 8:30am. There are 4 cruise terminals at Southampton, all slightly different but you will have a typical walk of about 75 yards to the vehicle where the driver will load your luggage into the hold. In the unlikely event your ship is delayed into port, we will delay our departure time accordingly (applicable only to the listed ships we service). For all delayed ship arrivals we will aim to leave at the latest one hour after docking (earlier if possible).
This service is available to those arriving on ships not listed if the dates and disembarkation times coincide with those listed. You will need to disembark and make your way to a ship that we are servicing that date as that is where you will meet our coach.
Arrival at London & Heathrow
We depart Windsor at 4:00pm and drop at Heathrow Terminals and selected Heathrow hotels and terminals 4:30pm-5:30pm subject to traffic, arriving in Central London 5:30pm-6:00pm. We also drop at any London city centre train station. If you are flying from Gatwick, Stansted or Luton Airports we can drop you at Victoria Rail or Coach Station around 6:45pm-7:00pm, where there are frequent trains and airport buses to each airport.
Please note on arrival in London we may use other vehicles to ensure we complete the drop offs as quickly and efficiently as possible. If this does happen our drivers, guides or tour managers will manage this.
